A Jungle Dream with Toucans and Digital Detox

Ever since becoming an Airbnb hostess herself, Bunny has been on a noble quest: a quest to find the perfect Airbnb. Not only for a relaxing holiday (with outdoor bathtubs, preferably), but also for some cheeky inspiration she can steal, ahem, lovingly adapt, for her own little Bunny burrow.

Sometimes, she gets lucky and stumbles upon magical Airbnbs in the most unexpected places. Then again, maybe it’s not luck at all. Maybe it’s the result of spending hours, actual hours, trawling the Airbnb app like a squirrel looking for buried nuts. Obsessive? Yes. Effective? Also yes.

And so, somewhere deep in the lush cloud forests of Ecuador, she found it: the perfect Airbnb. And no, she’s not being dramatic (for once).

Remote Jungle Luxury… Minus the Wi-Fi (and the Neighbours)

Let’s get one thing straight — this is not the kind of place where you bump into noisy tourists at breakfast or share thin walls with enthusiastic honeymooners. This Airbnb is blissfully remote, deliciously private, and surrounded by absolutely nothing except greenery, birdsong, and the gentle whoosh of two jungle rivers converging.

No neighbours. No noise. No distractions. Except for the occasional toucan sighting, which, frankly, is the kind of distraction Bunny is 100% okay with.

Bunny spent hours lounging on the day bed outside (appropriately netted for pesky mosquitos), reading her book and listening to the sounds of nature. Ah, what bliss.

Sleeping in the Clouds

The bed? Oh, THE BED. Soft, luxurious, with a direct view into the cloud forest. Bunny nearly wept when she first flopped onto it. What made the stay even more special was knowing how endangered these cloud forests are. It's not every day you get to fall asleep in the middle of a globally rare ecosystem. No wonder Bunny slept like a baby.

Five-Star Food Without the Fuss

Here’s where things got interesting: the meal service.

Bunny and Mr. Bunny were not prepared for just how good the food would be. Fresh, vegetarian (at their request), gorgeously plated, and clearly made with love and the perfect amount of garlic.

Every meal was a mini celebration. And although the cabin had a beautiful, fully equipped kitchen, Bunny never once considered cooking. “Why would anyone cook when THIS is an option?” she asked while licking mango sauce off her spoon.

Baths, Birds, and a Blissful Absence of Emails

Now let’s talk bathtime. An outdoor bathtub and shower surrounded by nothing but forest, sunset, and the sound of the river? Yes please. One evening, glass of wine in paw, Bunny wallowed like the world’s poshest forest creature. She might never recover.

And here's a plot twist: there was no Wi-Fi.

Yes, Bunny initially panicked. (How would she update her Instagram? What about the blog? Falling behind on dog videos on Facebook?!) But it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. She took a gentle hike to the host’s house once a day to take advantage of their satellite internet to check messages and upload a few obligatory stories for her loyal 37 followers. It felt wholesome.

The Hosts with the Most

Five-star reviews don’t lie. The hosts, Cheryl and Jon, were incredible, warm, helpful, discreet but available, very generous with their time and absolute wizards in the kitchen. They even took the time to chat, share stories, and offer tips for local hikes and birdwatching, although Bunny was mostly happy to just lounge around and listen to the birds calling out like they owned the place. Which, to be fair, they probably do.

The owners are currently building a lodge on the huge property, and if it’s anything like this place, Bunny might just move in permanently. Someone let the Bunnies know if there's a long-term discount.

But Was It Safe?

Before the trip, Bunny had read all the Ecuador travel advisories. (ALL of them.) She arrived slightly wide-eyed and alert. But within days, she relaxed. Bunny felt safe at all times, found the locals to be friendly and welcoming, and was never once uncomfortable, although she did avoid dodgy public transport and steered clear of Quito’s nightlife. (She’s more into sunsets and salads than clubs these days.)

So pretty

Bunny’s Airbnb Lessons

This little cloud forest escape gave Bunny ideas.

Would she love to offer her own guests a meal service like this? Absolutely. Can she cook like that? Absolutely not.

Would she love to own all the surrounding land to guarantee peace and privacy? Of course. Is that realistic? Not unless a rich distant relative she doesn’t know about leaves her a fortune in their will.

Still, it’s good to dream. And even better to be inspired.

Healthy and tasty!

Final Verdict?

Bunny’s jungle retreat in Ecuador may just be the best Airbnb she’s ever stayed in. And she doesn't say that lightly. It ticked all the boxes: privacy, nature, amazing food, and not a single shared wall or awkward breakfast conversation in sight.

Add to that the chirps of exotic birds, an outdoor bathtub, star gazing at the fire pit, the sound of rushing water and zero emails in her inbox, and you’ve got yourself something special.

If this isn’t jungle luxury done right, Bunny doesn’t know what is.
