Which Part of Grenada Is the Best to Stay

Most tourists congregate on the southwestern side of the island and for a good reason. Most of Grenada’s best hotels are located in this area. There are also gorgeous beaches, excellent restaurants, dive shops and other essential tourist services in the Grand Anse area.

It’s not like the rest of the Grenada is dull though. Quite the contrary. Most of the (many) chocolate factories and rum distilleries, beautiful waterfalls, old fortresses and picturesque small towns are located away from the Grand Anse area. The mountainous interior, such as the Grand Etang National Park and Forest Reserve, is also worth visiting.

Grenada is not very big but getting around the island can be a bit time-consuming. That’s why Bunny often recommends a twin center holiday - particularly if you are coming to Grenada for more than a week. Spend the bulk of your time near Grand Anse and then embark on a little sojourn to the north or east of Grenada, Bunny says.

Grenada Hotels

Below is Bunny’s list of the best hotels in Grenada, in no particular order. They are located in different parts of the island and Bunny herself has stayed in each and every one of them.

All the hotels on the list are clean, safe and Bunny-approved. In Bunny’s experience, they also have friendly and helpful staff. The service in any of the listed hotels can sometimes be a tad slow though but this is the Caribbean - what’s the hurry?

Six Senses La Sagesse

Grenada’s newest luxury resort, Six Senses La Sagesse, located in the island’s quiet southeast coast, is a sanctuary of understated beauty and refined comfort. Suites and villas blend into the lush landscape, each with a private pool and design inspired by the island’s natural charm. Every detail feels intentional, from the serene atmosphere to the exceptional breakfast, easily the best Bunny has had in Grenada. The staff are warm and genuine and the whole experience feels effortlessly relaxing.

Best Feature: A serene, thoughtfully curated experience that combines style and relaxation.

Think Twice: If you’re after a white-sand beach and turquoise waters.

Best For: A restorative, indulgent escape with outstanding food.

Silversands Grenada

Silversands Grenada represents ultimate luxury on the Grand Anse Beach. It is best suited for people who appreciate great design, personalised service and the feeling of exclusivity.

The centre piece of the hotel is the breathtakingly beautiful 100-metre long swimming pool. The gorgeous spa is another highlight. All the suites and facilities are naturally first-class, with the superb villas geared towards people traveling with dedicated staff and diamonds in their purse. Dining, spaing, beaching, everything is wonderful here, Bunny says.

Best Feature: Overall gorgeousness.

Best For: People who love understated luxury.

Spice Island Beach Resort

Spice Island Beach Resort has a long tradition and an excellent reputation - and it lives up to the hype. It offers a truly luxurious all-inclusive experience on Grand Anse Beach. The service at Spice Island Beach Resort was the best Bunny has encountered anywhere in Grenada. Bunny loved the fresh, delicious food and her wonderfully luxurious suite. The beachfront location on a quiet stretch of Grand Anse beach was unbeatable.

Spice Island typically attracts a distinguished, older clientele but there is no reason younger people looking for a truly luxurious and relaxing holiday should avoid it.

Best Feature: Amazing service and food.

Think Twice: If you are looking for a party atmosphere.

Best For: People who want a high-class all-inclusive experience.

Radisson Grenada

Bunny thinks that Radisson Grenada is one of the best value hotels in Grenada. It has a killer location on the Grand Anse Beach. The rooms are all contemporary and clean, with air-con and other modern facilities. Some rooms come with direct beach access, others with sea or garden views.

There are two swimming pools, a small gym and extensive, beautiful gardens. The weekend buffet breakfast is usually pretty good but otherwise Bunny has never been wowed by the food in this resort.

Best Feature: Amazing location on Grand Anse Beach.

Think Twice: If you need great culinary experiences.

Best For: People looking for a great beach experience with less money.

La Luna Boutique Hotel & Villas

La Luna offers real Balinese vibes in Grenada, with delicious Italian food to boot. The 16 semi-detached cottages have private verandas, plunge pools and open-air bathrooms. Further up on the same hill, La Luna also has some sleek-looking villas but Bunny is yet to visit those.

The best feature at La Luna is the excellent, quiet beach. You can snorkel right off the beach which is a rarity in Grenada. There’s also a small gym, a spa and a wonderful yoga pavilion by the beach. The simple and stylish La Luna fits perfectly in its surroundings and feels natural and effortlessly stylish, in a rustic sort of way.

Best Feature: Secluded romantic atmosphere and great snorkelling off the beach.

Think Twice: If rustic chic is not your thing.

Best For: Honeymooners and romancing couples.

Calabash Luxury Boutique Hotel 

Calabash is an award-winning Relais & Chateaux boutique hotel that has excellent, personalised service and very attractive, stylish suites. It is located on a quiet beach (albeit not great by Grenada standards), away from the tourist hustle and bustle. The whole property oozes effortless style and sophistication without being stuffy.

There’s a beautiful swimming pool, a spa, beachside cocktail bar and a bistro, a gym and all the other services you could wish for your holiday. Most of all, there is absolutely delicious food and the kind of attention to detail that other hotels in Grenada could learn from.

Best Feature: Excellent service and delicious food.

Best For: People looking for a luxurious boutique holiday.

Silversands Beach House

Silversands’ new Beach House is very similar to its mother ship on Grand Anse. It is a luxurious, modern structure with great service, stunning rooms and an eye-catching infinity pool. It is an intimate resort with only 28 rooms. It has fewer facilities and only one restaurant, but guests at the Beach House also have access to the Silversands Grand Anse property during their stay. 

 The Beach House, nestled on the beautiful Portici Beach, is perfect for a couple days of quiet relaxation.  

Best Feature: Great design and beautiful waterfront location.

Think Twice: If you are looking for lots of activities.

Best For: Quiet relaxation on the beach or around the pool.

True Blue Bay Boutique Resort

True Blue Bay Boutique Resort is a quirky little hotel with fantastic facilities. Bunny particularly loves the serene yoga pavilion and the four different swimming pools dotted around the property.

At True Blue, there are lots of different room options to choose from, including villas with private plunge pools. All rooms are nicely decorated, spacious and comfortable; some are more luxurious than others but all of them are lovely.

True Blue’s Dodgy Dock restaurant is very popular and for divers, you cannot beat the convenience of the Aquanauts dive shop on site. The only thing missing is a beach.

Best Feature: Quirky style and a great yoga pavilion.

Think Twice: If you want to be on a beach.

Best For: Divers and families visiting SGU students as the university is a very short drive away.

Sandals Grenada

Sandals Grenada offers a guaranteed Sandals style quality holiday. Sandals lovers know the deal: It is a couples only resort on a fabulous all-inclusive basis. The food and drink options are almost limitless and of very high quality. Regardless of the room type, you have access to the beautiful grounds, the beach and the pools. Even scuba-diving is included in the price here.

Sandals Grenada is one of the highest-rated Sandals hotels in the Caribbean and for good reason. If you are looking for a destination wedding, this is the place. Bunny should know - she got married at Sandals Grenada herself.

Best Feature: All-inclusive activities and dining.

Think Twice: If you prefer a more intimate holiday and/or want to explore Grenada.

Best For: Destination weddings, quality time escapes, and busy power couples looking for an easy holiday.

Maca Bana 

Maca Bana provides plenty of old-fashioned Caribbean charm overlooking the gorgeous Magazine Beach. It’s a small and intimate hotel, with villa accommodation only. The villas are scattered among tropical gardens and come in different sizes, but all have full kitchen facilities and private hot tubs. Some villas have incredible views of the beach below.

Beach access requires a steep path down (and eventually up) but the spectacular Magazine Beach is worth it - and usually very quiet. There is only one restaurant, the Aquarium, on site, but it is an excellent choice.

Best Feature: Private hot tubs with great views.

Best For: Romantic getaways or self-catering families.

Mount Edgecombe Boutique Hotel 

Mount Edgecombe is an old plantation house that has been turned into a boutique hotel full of charm and character. It is located on 28 acres of beautiful rain forest in St. Marks on Grenada’s west coast. The charming rooms are surrounded by lovely gardens and there are two stunning infinity-edge swimming pools facing west for perfect sunset views.

The in-house restaurant serves simple but tasty meals cooked from fresh produce grown on the estate. Guests can explore the estate on the “spice trail”, a nicely marked walking path in the rain forest. At night, you can listen to the sounds of the jungle and spot dancing fireflies from your balcony.

Best Feature: A lovely, secluded location in the middle of a beautiful rain forest.

Think Twice: If you need loud entertainment, large menu options or pool parties.

Best For: People looking for a quiet, lush hideaway.

Atma Island Living 

Atma Island Living is your elegant accommodation option in north Grenada. It’s located in St. Patrick’s, right next to the fabulous and wild Bathway beach. The rooms at Atma Island Living are stylish and contemporary, with luxurious finishings. The common spaces are spacious and relaxing, with beautiful ocean views. There’s also a cute little pool in the garden. The surroundings are calm and relaxing.

The option of adding the services of a personal chef to your visit provides a touch of extra luxury. Bunny absolutely loved her vegan meals at Atma, making it her favourite place to stay in north Grenada.

Best Feature: Delicious food, including vegan options.

Think Twice: If you expect parties or lots of restaurants within walking distance.

Best For: Couples or families wanting to explore the northern part of Grenada.

Mount Cinnamon Resort & Beach Club

Mount Cinnamon is a boutique resort which offers a collection of contemporary hillside villas and suites with great views. The rooms are attractive and luxurious, with all the expected amenities. All the villas have kitchens as well.

The hotel hosts a highly rated restaurant, called Savvy, a swimming pool, a small spa and daily yoga classes. In addition, Mount Cinnamon has direct beach access via a beautiful pathway that leads to Grand Anse Beach. On the beach, the hotel has a private beach club with all the services and tropical drinks you could wish for.

Best Feature: Friendly service and great views.

Think Twice: If you have mobility issues as the location on the hill can prove challenging.

Best For: Those looking for a quality hotel with access to Grand Anse Beach.

Bay House Grenada

Bay House Grenada is a new boutique hotel with staggering views. It is located high on a hill overlooking the amazing Grand Anse Beach (there’s a complimentary beach shuttle).

The rooms are quite small but the common areas are expansive, inviting and very stylish. The swimming pool is open around the clock. During her stay, Bunny was most pleasantly surprised by the food, which was excellent, with many vegetarian options on offer. 

Best Feature: Beautiful interior and amazing views.

Think Twice: If you want to be within walking distance from a beach.

Best For: People looking for stylish accommodations at an affordable price.

La Sagesse 

La Sagesse hotel in St. David’s offers traditional Caribbean charm on Grenada’s east coast. The hotel is located on a beautiful, palm-lined bay that is perfect for unwinding and floating lazily in the sea.

The 11 rooms are Caribbean style and simple, located steps away from the water’s edge. The breeze and the sound of the waves will lull you to sleep at night. La Sagesse is a perfect place for ultimate relaxation as there is not much else to do. The beachfront restaurant is very good, offering fresh food and cocktails at affordable prices. For any additional activities you might want to do, a rental car is recommended.

Best Feature: La Sagesse beach with its beautiful palm trees.

Think Twice: If you need topnotch facilities or a lot of activities.

Best For: People looking for a quiet, old-fashioned Caribbean holiday.

Secret Harbour Boutique Hotel & Marina

Secret Harbour is a full-service marina that offers fine accommodation in addition to other services. Its deluxe cottages and suites are modern, spacious and attractive. They are all located on the water’s edge, with roomy terraces facing the bay. Some villas have private jacuzzis, while all have fully equipped kitchens and high-end finishes.

Secret Harbour has an excellent gym, a tennis court and beautiful gardens but no real beach. The hilltop swimming pool has amazing views over the sea. The Secret Harbour Restaurant provides excellent dining beside the marina.

Best Feature: Stylish, spacious accommodation right on the water.

Think Twice: If you are a beach lover.

Best For: People looking for high quality accommodation and great food.

Blue Horizons Garden Resort

Blue Horizons is a solid option for people who want a great location for a reasonable price. At Blue Horizons, you are within a short walk from Grand Anse Beach. The Spiceland Mall and a number of good restaurants are even closer.

The rooms at Blue Horizon are authentic Caribbean style, perhaps a bit dated but spacious and clean. All rooms have kitchens for self-catering but there is also a restaurant on site. The hotel grounds include expansive tropical gardens and a swimming pool.

Best Feature: Location near Grand Anse Beach.

Think Twice: If you expect modern style or luxury.

Best For: Families who want to holiday near the beach.

Cabier Ocean Lodge 

Cabier Ocean Lodge in St. Andrews is an old-fashioned Caribbean holiday paradise. It is located in a very quiet, rural setting on the east coast of Grenada. The lodge has 11 local style guest rooms with views to the sea. There’s a palm-fringed beach and plenty of beautiful bays and coastal areas to explore nearby. The restaurant at Cabier Lodge serves delicious local food and tropical drinks.

Separate from the lodge is Two Bays Beach Villa which has its own private pool and gorgeous views. This is where Bunny stayed and found it excellent value.

Best Feature: Beautiful, tranquil location and affordable prices.

Think Twice: If you don’t want to rent a car.

Best For: Adventurous holidaymakers who want to explore Grenada’s countryside.

473 Grenada Boutique Resort

473 Grenada Boutique Resort is a secluded, lush hideaway on Grenada’s south coast. It has a collection of luxurious waterfront villas that are perfect for couples and families alike. The villas are very spacious and private, and have fully equipped kitchens.

The property also has extensive, beautiful gardens and a large infinity pool with stunning sea views. Two small public beaches are found just outside the property. During her stay, Bunny particularly appreciated the delicious meals that were served either in the privacy of her own villa or out on the pool deck.

Best Feature: Spacious private villas right next to the sea.

Think Twice: If you want to be within walking distance to other restaurants and bars.

Best For: Families looking for a relaxing stay.

Coyaba Beach Resort

Coyaba Beach Resort offers a classic Caribbean vacation on Grand Anse Beach. It has an amazing location, with many nearby restaurants within walking distance, lush tropical gardens and friendly service. There’s also a pool with a swim-up bar and various activities on offer. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxing, more suitable for adults than families with children. Coyaba also offers good-value day passes during the low season.

Best Feature: Excellent location on Grand Anse Beach.

Think Twice: If you need luxury or contemporary design.

Best For: People who prefer a more classic Caribbean beach holiday experience.

Royalton Grenada

Royalton Grenada is one of the few traditional all-inclusive hotels in Grenada. It is located on the gorgeous Magazine Beach and offers, in addition to superb, new facilities, a typical all-inclusive experience at a considerably lower cost than Sandals Grenada.

Bunny was not overly impressed with the quality of the food or drinks at Royalton Grenada but it does provide rather good value for people interested in an affordable all-inclusive option in Grenada. The gym and spa services, in particular, were topnotch.

Best Feature: New facilities and beautiful environment.

Think Twice: If you’re expecting great food and delicious, handcrafted cocktails.

Best For: People looking for a fun, affordable, all-inclusive holiday on a great beach.

Petite Anse Hotel

Petite Anse Hotel has an enviable beach front location in a quiet corner of North Grenada. It is a laid-back, unpretentious basis to explore the nearby sights. The highlight of Bunny’s stay was the trip to Grenada’s Sandy Island, seamlessly organised by the hotel.

The rooms are somewhat basic, but clean and comfortable. Bunny loved the stunning views, including from the shower of her beach front bungalow, and her solitary yoga sessions on the hotel’s beach at sunrise.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful, assisting with all the tour and hiking options nearby.

Best Feature: Remote, scenic setting with a relaxed vibe.

Think Twice: If you want to lime on a calm beach with still, turquoise water.

Best For: As a gateway to northern Grenada and its Sandy Island.

Siesta Hotel

Siesta Hotel is a great family-owned budget option close to Grand Anse Beach. It has simple but clean one- and two-bedroom apartments with air-conditioning. The facilities are modest but there is a small swimming pool and relaxing gardens.

Siesta Hotel is located within walking distance to the Spiceland Mall, Grand Anse Beach and a number of bars and restaurants. Despite the central location, the hotel feels very quiet and peaceful, and the staff does a great job of making guests feel welcome.

Best Feature: Walkable location and friendly staff.

Think Twice: If you require first class amenities.

Best For: People looking for a budget option within walking distance to Grenada’s best beach.

Hideaway Waterfront Apartments

A bit of an undiscovered treasure, Grenada’s Hideaway Apartments are hiding in plain sight. They are located within a short walk from Grand Anse Beach and directly on the minibus route to St. George's. Tucked away in tropical gardens, there are 5 self-contained apartments that few people know about.

These one- and two-bedroom apartments have full kitchens, air-conditioning and direct access to the water. There’s a small, secluded beach steps away from the property and a beautiful garden with hammocks and tropical plants for guests to enjoy. Sunsets are particularly nice here, Bunny says.

Best Feature: Quiet waterfront location.

Think Twice: If you are looking for parties or lots of activities.

Best For: People who don’t like big resorts or hotels.

Sea Glass Place

Right next door to Hideaway Apartments is a very popular Airbnb option: Sea Glass Place. It features a beautiful, practically private beach and very engaging, helpful owners. Sea Glass Place has four separate apartments, each with its own kitchen, bathroom, and veranda with a view. The apartments are cozy and clean, equipped with everything you might need, including air-conditioning.

Bunny loved the beach, the readily available kayaks and stand-up paddleboards, and the friendly iguanas scurrying around the garden. Restaurants and all the activities of the Grand Anse area were just a short minivan ride away.

Best Feature: Amazing (nearly private) beach.

Think Twice: If you’re seeking a truly quiet, secluded location.

Best For: Independent travellers looking for hidden gems.

Bougainvillea Apartments

Bougainvillea Apartments is a cheap and cheerful hotel option close to Grand Anse Beach. The one- and two-bedroom apartments are tucked away in a tropical garden, but the hotel is in a very central location. A supermarket, bank and the Grand Anse Beach are all a short walk away with local minivan buses going right past the apartments when you need to get somewhere further afield.

Bougainvillea Apartments are furnished in somewhat old-fashioned local style, but are clean and spacious and have air-conditioning and wi-fi. The apartments are also suitable for self-catering, with fully equipped kitchens.

Best Feature: An affordable and spacious option close to the beach.

Think Twice: If you are expecting a luxurious stay.

Best For: People looking for a functional base for exploring Grenada.

Other Options

Bunny has not personally stayed in the following Grenada hotels but she can offer some observations nevertheless:

Lance Aux Epines Cottages 

Lance Aux Epines Cottages are located next to the superb Calabash hotel. Bunny has only strolled by the cottages but they seem to have rave reviews and lots of repeat customers.

Kalinago Beach Resort

Kalinago Beach Resort has an excellent location directly on BBC Beach. Bunny has never visited the hotel itself but is very curious to do so.

How Expensive Are Grenada Hotels?

Hotel prices in Grenada reflect the season, with the December-March high season seeing much higher prices than the rest of the year. Room prices also tend to rise around the August Carnival season.

Generally, as is often the case, the higher the price, the higher quality hotel you get. The hotels featured in this blog post generally charge between 100 USD -1,000 USD per night, depending on the hotel and the season. Look for special deals, particularly outside the high season.
